Immortality

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

A couple of posts ago I wrote about mine and Cathy's entry into a new workout and diet regimen. It is week two and I have lost 6.5 pounds! Starting at 195, I am not a slightly leaner 188.5! Yes- ".5" - because when I moved that counter-weight (centimeter by centimeter) to 188, it tipped the scale. SO CLOSE!

It's been a really tough workout regimen- the toughest I've been on! The (demon-from-hell-sadist) awesome fitness guru that wrote the book "Making the Cut" (a.k.a- "Kicking Your Butt") is relentless in her routines. I did mention some of the exercise names previously, but there's one called "the Scorpion Pushup."  A particularly apt name because I felt stung afterwards... all over.

Actually, I find allot of exercises in routines have "cute" names. In Pilates, there's one called "teasers." I guess it's because through the entire second-half you are constantly thinking to yourself "This is the last one?...no?...This is the last one?...no!" , all-the-time  you're feeling like someone is wrapping a red-hot cable around your midsection!

The reason we're doing this is because Cathy and I want to get down to our ideal weight . Ever since my metabolism shut down at 24, when I was 160lbs, I've been slowly progressing to my current weight (with a brief and awful few months when I had gotten to 208!). Cathy, on the other hand, has maintained here wonderfully [sexy] figure during our whole marriage. So, I've kinda felt we look like [this] most of our marriage.

So, onward and upward! It's kinda hard but the results are showing and I'm really kinda excited :)

Mortality

ok... I'm 42 years old. I used to have a problem remembering that fact- that is until last night. You see, Cathy (my dearest love) has decided to go on an exercise regimen called "Making the Cut." Being the ever-supportive hubby (and the fact that I could stand to lose about 30lbs myself) I said "Let's both do it together!" (*echo* "together, ...gether, ...gether")

We used to workout all of the time together, but, for the next 8 years, we will have to do it apart, for we are parents without a nanny. So Cathy looks after our little rocker while I work out and vise-versa. We used to do weight-training, then Pilates (a very results-giving workout!), but now we're trying out this new regimen that you'd thought was put together by Linda Hamilton in her T2 days!

I mean, this routine includes 5 sets (done twice-each) of constantly moving and varied exercises with torture-referencing names like "frog-push-up", "mountain- climber", "leg-lift-with-lateral-arm-raise" and "crab walk." That last one is going to be fun to do at the gym... in front of the other fitness folk! I did the first routine last night and I sweated like [this guy], but without the goth getup!

I will be sporadically writing entries on our progress. My goal is to get from 195lbs down to 165lbs.

Wish me luck... I going in!
